FAQ | Rugs & Runners

Selecting the right size Rug

We often get asked what size to select when styling your rug so here's a quick guide;
Bedroom Styling;
SINGLE - 160cm x 230cm
DOUBLE - 180cm x 270cm
QUEEN - 240cm x 300cm
KING - 300cm x 400cm
Living Room Styling -
We do say the bigger the better when it comes to living room spaces if your space allows it of course.
Measure Your Space – Start by measuring the area you want to cover. A rug should complement the space, not overwhelm it.
Consider Furniture Layout – For a cosy, cohesive look, aim to have the front legs of your furniture on the rug. In larger spaces, all legs can sit on the rug, creating a defined area.

Important Information

Our rugs and runners are about 1cm thick, so keep this in mind if you're placing one near a doorway where clearance is needed.
When selecting your runner, be sure to double-check the width as some of our runners have different width options to choose from.
Each rug is lovingly handmade, so you may notice slight irregularities that add to its charm. These unique features are a beautiful part of the handcrafted process, making your rug one-of-a-kind."

Rug Underlays

Using an Underlay or Non-Slip Underlay:
Non-Slip Underlay:
To prevent your jute rug from slipping or bunching up, use a non-slip underlay or rug pad underneath it. This will also provide additional cushioning, protect your flooring underneath and extend the life of your rug.
Underlay Selection:
When choosing an underlay, opt for one specifically designed for use with jute or natural fibre rugs. These underlays are less likely to cause damage to the jute fibres and provide the best grip.

Care Instructions

General Care
Regular Vacuuming:
Vacuum your jute rug regularly to remove loose dirt and dust. Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment, and be gentle to avoid damaging the fibres.

Rotate Your Rug:
To ensure even wear, rotate your jute rug every few months, especially in high-traffic areas. This will help prevent excessive wear and fading in one area.

Blot Spills Immediately:
If a liquid spill occurs, blot it gently with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel. Avoid rubbing, as this can push the stain deeper into the fibres.

Avoid Direct Sunlight:
Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the natural fibres in your jute rug to fade. If possible, place your rug in an area with indirect sunlight or use curtains or blinds to protect it.
Clean up pet accidents immediately.
Remove solids with paper towel and blot up urine quickly. Mix white vinegar and water in equal parts, using a clean cloth gently dab area clean. Cover the area in baking soda to help draw out the moisture and eliminate odour.
